    Block Paving Driveways in Cambridgeshire

Most block paving fails for the same three reasons: thin sub-base, no edge restraints, and cheap jointing sand. We build every driveway to the construction detail it deserves — across Cambridge, Peterborough, Huntingdon, St Neots and Bedfordshire.

    Where block paving works best

    Driveways

Our most common block paving job. Modern driveways need to handle SUVs and electric vehicles, so we build with 50–60mm blocks on a minimum 150mm Type 1 base — never the 80mm shortcuts you'll see quoted elsewhere.

    Pathways & side returns

Narrower 100x100 or tumbled cobble blocks for paths down the side of the house — sympathetic to period properties and easy to lift if drains need access later.

    Mixed driveway + parking aprons

Combining block paving for the drive with porcelain or stone for the patio creates a smarter, more deliberate front-of-house design than acres of single-material paving.

    Our block paving construction standard

    • SuDS-compliant permeable block paving available — required for most new front-garden drives in England without planning permission
    • Edge restraints concreted on three sides — this is the single most-skipped step and the main cause of blocks 'creeping' over time
    • Kiln-dried polymeric jointing sand resists ant tunnelling and weed germination far better than standard sand
    • Drainage falls calculated to BS 7533 — water moves to soakaways or aco drains, not to your front door
